CAMILA MENDES, ARCHIE RENAUX, MARISA TOMEI & LENA OLIN STAR IN ROMANTIC COMEDY UPGRADED

Production kicked off in late July across London and the north of England

We are delighted to be working with Gulfstream Pictures and Luber Roklin Entertainment on romantic comedy UPGRADED starring Camila Mendes and Archie Reneaux, directed by Carlson Young. International star Camila Mendes (Riverdale) takes the lead role of Ana, an aspiring art aficionado and high-end auction house trainee who finds herself stepping into her dream job – entirely by mistake. Mendes will be joined by British actor Archie Renaux (Shadow and Bone) as William, her male lead. William, Ana’s love interest, is also the son of her most important client…

Marisa Tomei (Spider-Man: No Way Home) and Lena Olin (Hunters) also star. Tomei will take on the role of the formidable auction house executive Claire Dupree, a brilliant and terrifying boss to auction-house trainee Ana. Olin will play the charismatic and charming Catherine Laroche, a wealthy and influential art seller, and the mother of Ana’s love interest, William.

Upgraded is directed by Carlson Young (The Blazing World), from a script by Christine Lenig, Justin Matthews & Luke Roberts. Producers are Bill Bindley and Mike Karz for Gulfstream Pictures, Lena Roklin for Luber Roklin Entertainment, Piers Tempest for Tempo Productions and Karl Hall. Executive producers are Camila Mendes, Rachel Matthews, Josie Rosen and Matt Williams. Co-producer is Lauren Cox. Mendes is also an Executive Producer on the project and developed the film, alongside the Writers and Director.

While on a European business trip, Ana (Mendes) – an auction house trainee – is mistaken by a client to be the director of the company. After getting a taste of art-world stardom, Ana scrambles to fix her mistaken identity before ruining the company’s biggest art auction. Set in both London and New York City, the film is a playful, heartfelt coming-of-age story that chronicles the trials and tribulations of finding your own path and following your dreams.

Camila Mendes is a hugely popular American-Brazilian actress and singer. She made her on-screen debut portraying Veronica Lodge in the wildly successful teen drama series Riverdale, for which she won a Teen Choice award. Mendes has also appeared in the critically acclaimed sci-fi comedy Palm Springs, romantic comedies The New Romantic and The Perfect Date,and the Netflix thriller Dangerous Lies. Mendes is also starring in the highly anticipated Do Revenge coming out on Netflix later this year.

Archie Renaux hails from west London and is one of the UK’s most exciting young talents. He has most recently been seen in the Netflix series Shadow and Bone and the Marvel feature film, Morbius. Renaux also appeared in the BBC One miniseries Gold Digger in the lead role of Leo Day. He recently completed photography in the romantic comedy The Other Zoey, co-starring Josephine Langford and Drew Starkey.

This is the third film this year financed by Gulfstream, after The Other Zoey and One Fast Move starring KJ Apa. In a joint statement, Gulfstream’s Mike Karz and Bill Bindley marked the start of production on Upgraded by saying, “We are thrilled to be working with the enormously talented Carlson Young, Cami Mendes and Archie Renaux, as they pull back the curtain on the art world in this fun and engaging romantic comedy.”
