Peter Cattaneo’s (The Full Monty) upcoming British comedy drama, MILITARY WIVES, is set to receive a major contribution to its soundtrack from international music star Robbie Williams and his long-time song-writing collaborator, Guy Chambers.

Starring Oscar® Nominee and BAFTA®-Winner Kristin Scott Thomas (Darkest Hour) and BAFTA® Nominee Sharon Horgan (Catastrophe) MILITARY WIVES tells the poignant story of a group of women, separated from their loved ones serving in the armed forces, who form a choir at their army base and each find much more than they ever expected.

Williams first started working with Chambers in 1996 when they co-wrote some of the biggest hits in a career-defining generational soundtrack. Songs the pair have written together  include ‘Angels’, ‘Let Me Entertain You’, ‘Millennium’, ‘Feel’, ‘No Regrets’ and ‘Rock DJ’. Following a decade of not working together from 2002 to 2012, the pair reunited to work together on Robbie’s last two studio albums ‘Swings Both Ways’ and ‘The Heavy Entertainment Show’, both of which went to Number 1 in the UK album charts.

As a solo artist, Williams has sold over 77 million albums worldwide; has six of the top 100 best-selling albums in British history; and has had 14 Number 1 singles. He is also one of the most in-demand live performers in music and continues to play stadiums around the world and has won a record 18 BRIT Awards – more than any other artist in music history. This year alone, Williams will perform his first ever sold-out Las Vegas residency at Wynn Las Vegas and headline Barclaycard presents British Summer Time Hyde Park in July 2019.

In addition to a Williams/Chambers original song written specifically for the film, MILITARY WIVES will feature a score penned by BAFTA® Nominee and Mission: Impossible-Fallout composer, Lorne Balfe.

MILITARY WIVES was shot on location for six weeks around London and Yorkshire at the end of 2018 and will be distributed by Lionsgate in the UK. Embankment Films arranged the financing and is handling International sales, co-representing the USA with CAA. Ingenious Media is the lead funder of the project.

Rounding out the cast of MILITARY WIVES alongside Scott Thomas and Horgan are Greg Wise (A Private War), Jason Flemyng (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels), Emma Lowndes (Downton Abbey), Gaby French (Victoria), Lara Rossi (Robin Hood), Amy James-Kelly (Safe) and India Ria Amarteifio (Line of Duty).

Co-written by BIFA award-winner Rachel Tunnard (Adult Life Skills) and award-winning writer/director Rosanne Flynn (Crossbones, Meconium) MILITARY WIVES is produced by Rory Aitken and Ben Pugh of London and LA-based production company 42 and Piers Tempest for Tempo Productions. Jo Bamford is executive producing alongside Erica Steinberg and Josh Varney for 42, Rene Besson and Emma Willis and Hana Carter for Twenty Twenty TV, the production company behind the hugely successful BBC documentary series, ‘The Choir: Military Wives’ which inspired the film.

A joint statement by the producers of MILITARY WIVES said today, “Over the last few months, Kristin, Sharon and our hugely talented ensemble cast have put their hearts and voices into telling this tale, which demonstrates how a community of strong women can come together and literally change lives. Having Robbie and Guy collaborate with us on the original music, which is so essential to the journey of these characters, is truly exciting”.

Williams and Chambers said: “It’s always a joy to work together on new music, and we’re thrilled that our new song will be featured in this special film. We’re really proud of the track and can’t wait for you all to hear it.”

First footage from MILITARY WIVES will be screened at the EFM in February and it is anticipated that the film will release in late 2019 internationally.
