Currently in pre production Emily is debut writer-director Frances O’Connor’s revitalisation of Emily Brontë’s origin story.

First announced during virtual Cannes, Embankment rep international sales and have pre sold Emily to Warner Brothers in the UK; Wild Bunch have acquired several territories, France, Germany, Switzerland as well as Italy (BIM) and Spain (Golem). Further sales include Benelux (Cineart), Scandinavia (Scanbox), ANZ (Madman), Greece (Spentzos), Israel (United King), South Africa (Filmfinity) and Portugal (Nos Lusomundo).

Tim Haslam, Embankment, says; “First class international distributors are partnering with us for Emily – recognising Frances’ refreshing and emotional storytelling for targeted cinematic audiences.”

From a self-penned script, double Golden Globe nominee O’Connor imagines the transformative, exhilarating, and uplifting journey to womanhood of a rebel and a misfit, one of the world’s most famous, enigmatic, and provocative writers, author of the seminal Wuthering Heights: Emily Brontë.

Emily is produced by Piers Tempest (Military Wives, Ordinary Love, The Wife) and David Barron (Harry Potter films 4-8, Cinderella, Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) with Robert Connolly and Robert Patterson of Arenamedia (Paper Planes, Balibo, The Dry).
